Setting up a slackline involves finding the right location, preparing the anchors, and tensioning the line. Here's a general guide.
1. Finding a Location
- Look for two sturdy trees or posts spaced 15-30 feet apart with a diameter of at least 8 inches.
- Ensure there are no low-hanging branches or obstacles in the way.
- Choose a location with soft ground below in case of falls (avoid concrete or rocks).
2. Preparing the Anchors
- Use a slackline specific tree protection to prevent damage to the bark. Wrap it securely around the tree trunk.
- Attach the line's webbing to the tree protection using a carabiner or the provided rigging system of your slackline kit.
3. Tensioning the Line
- Follow the instructions specific to your slackline kit for tensioning. This typically involves a ratchet mechanism or tensioning line.
- Gradually tension the line, checking for even tension and stability throughout the line.
- Double-check all your knots and connections before stepping onto the line.
