THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TRICKLINING ON A SLACKLINE

The time has finally come: The World Slackline Masters will be held in Stuttgart for the first time in 2019 – we will show the world that Stuttgart is well worth the honor of hosting this Worldcup!

On the first weekend in June, the best athletes from around the globe will compete against each other on the trickline – every trickliner is on its own, no teams. For the slackliners: adrenaline! For the audience: pure excitement on the Cannstatter Wasen.

WILDCARD CONTEST

Take part in the online Wildcard-Contest to snatch one of the remaining 8 starting places for the competition: It is the only possibility to get a starting place for the World Cup Stuttgart, apart from the fixed trickliners – plus accommodation and meals.

Each contest participant is allowed to present his/her skills on a video of a maximum of 60 seconds without a cut. The performance will then be evaluated and ranked by ATA judging.

Global City Balance Challenge

What is the Global City Balance Challenge?

Our complementary interaction program for the audience of the competitions!

Your task: Manage to balance 10 seconds on the slackline or slackrack to be registered for Stuttgarts Score. How many people can we gather to help us become the Most Balanced City?

The Balance Challenge area consists of slacklines and 5 slackracks, which are permanently supervised by GIBBON, athletes and the community.

JUDGING

Tricklining is not a matter of taste but is subject to a complex rating system. For this purpose, the performance of each trickliner is recorded with video software and is split up into individual tricks and movements and rated by an ATA (American Trickline Association) certified judge. In order to be able to recognize all individual components of the tricks -despite the enormous speed-, the judge uses a start-stop function, which slightly delays the publication of the evaluation.

Evaluation criteria:

Rotations depending on the axial rotation
Amplitude and style by grabs
Avoidance of “Dabs” (touching the ground)
Diversity of the repertoire (reduced score for repetitions)
Combination of tricks – bonus multipliers depending on combination of tricks in “combos”
Controlled completion of combos and runs (landing on the feet)

Contest procedure

Preliminary rounds:

Each trickliner makes 2 runs of 60 seconds each. The runs will be recorded with the judging software and judged by the jury. The starting order is determined by lottery.

Knock out rounds:

According to the preliminary round ranking, the top 16 athletes compete in “one against one” knockout mode. The round of sixteen consists of 8 duels with 2 participants each, which are composed as follows from the ranking: 1st vs. 16th, 2nd vs. 15th, 3rd vs. 14th etc. (further details in the appendix).

Each athlete has 90 seconds in the duel.
The time runs as soon as the athlete is on the line and stops as soon as the run ends.
If the athlete is still on the slackline after his time is up, he / she has 15 additional seconds, which will be considered in the ranking.
For the final evaluation, the tricks and combos must be entered in the judging software.
After about 1 minute the winner of the duel can be announced and the next round starts.
