World Slackline Masters 2018
On 1st of July 2018 in Munich, world’s largest slackline event, the World Slackline Masters, takes place at the M-net Sport Festival on Königsplatz. Around 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival to inform themselves and try out sports of all kinds.
“Slacklining these days is spectacular entertainment and fun for all ages! We would like to promote and support this versatility with this event. ”
Andy Lewis, 4-time slackline world champion and moderator of the World Slackline Masters
For the 11th time, the Globetrotter World Slackline Masters will be held in Munich. Athletes in teams of two will present their performance on a 2m high and 25m long slackline, trying to convince the jury in the fields execution, technique, variety and order of the tricks within the combos.
16 teams from around the world have signed up for the championship, including the best athletes from Spain, Portugal and Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. But also the USA, Brazil, Chile and even Japan are represented.
Both, event and athletes, are ambassadors for the still relatively unknown sport of slacklining, which in its core consists of body-feeling, balance and fun. What you’ll witness in Munich on Sunday is the crème de la crème of the international slackline scene: incredible stunts, tricks and bold maneuvers in up to 7m in height. To be able to deliver this highly demanding performance, the athletes train between 2 and 4 hours daily.
Our top priority is to inspire people. This means, on the one hand, offering amazing performances by top athletes for the public to enjoy. On the other hand, slacklining and body balance are accessible. At our “Balance Challenge – 10 Seconds Balancing”, we give visitors the chance to face a mental and physical challenge that they can grow on and finally master.
“Slacklining? No, I don’t have the balance!” is a common phrase at the sight of a slackline. Balancing with the right technique though is piece of cake to everyone.
“We are convinced that balance is an essential part of a healthy life. It is our goal to support both, extreme athletes and couch potatoes, facing challenges and at the same time making them achievable. Many years of experience have proven that slacklining really is for everyone!”
Robert Kaeding, founder of Gibbon Slacklines
For all visitors and curious people, our team from Gibbon Slacklines and the main sponsor Globetrotter offer free slackline courses throughout the weekend. Under professional guidance in our join-in area, everyone can dare their first steps on the slackline and master it in no time. Simply everyone has balance and body feeling!
